From our Long Goodbye desk
The shrinky local tabloid just lost another good one.
From Alexi Cohan’s Twitter feed:
Cohan put -30- to her Herald career in style with this full-page piece in Sunday’s edition.
Last year, when the skimpy local tabloid laid off veteran sports scribe Steve Bulpett, the sadreading staff noted this.
Let’s stipulate that it’s amazing the Herald even publishes every day, given that, according to Don Seiffert at Boston Business Journal, “[t]he size of the Boston Herald has gone from about 240 employees at the end of 2017, before its purchase by MediaNews Group, to just a few dozen today.”
But defenestrating its best people . . . is absolute journalistic malpractice. All best to the good reporters – like Sean Philip Cotter, Alexi Cohan, and others – who remain at the flimsy local tabloid. But here’s hoping you all land someplace better real soon.
One down, at least one more to go.
