Latest in the never-ending Boston Herald exodus
If there’s one desk at the shrinky local tabloid that’s taken an especial beating from the paper’s Digital Fist – sorry, First – Media owners, it’s been the sports department. Which is crazy, right? The Herald sports pages were one of the few reasons to pick up the paper at all.
But that’s been seriously diminished by the neutron bombing of the Herald’s toy department – not to mention the shift to printing the paper at the Providence Journal, leading to 1) no sports scores in the home delivery edition and 2) ridiculous situations like this week’s Boston/LA Byline Bakeoff between the Herald’s Justin Pellitier and Jim Alexander of the Los Angeles Daily News, which has them writing about bicoastal rivalries in hockey, basketball, boxing – anything but the current World’s Serious.

And now comes this from sports desker Jon Couture.
Nothing sugarcoated there. Just one more bitter pill for those left at the Herald boneyard.
